Screen Printing on Objects

​Saturday Dec 1, 2018 and Saturday Dec 8, 2018

11am to 5pm at Frontline Arts

This two-day screen printing class is open to all experience levels. Printing on dimensional, non-traditional materials such as wood, cylinders, balloons and more, each student will learn the correct methods for preparing and printing on these less-than-usual surfaces. Students will also receive 12 FREE hours of studio time at Frontline Arts.

Introduction to Woodblock Printmaking

Saturday October 6 & Sunday October 7, 2018

11:30am to 5:30pm at Artworks Trenton

This two-day woodcut class for entry-level artists will cover all the basics of relief printing. The class will demonstrate proper tool usage, carving on a matrix, inking a block, and printing editions. Each participant will leave with the knowledge to print by hand or with a press, as well as create a one-color edition of at least five prints.

Non-Toxic Relief with Caligo Inks

This five hour woodblock relief printing class will explore the wonders of non-toxic printing using Caligo Safe Wash relief ink. This class is open to beginners and experienced artists alike, and will focus on working with safe materials. It’s a great opportunity to learn basic carving skills or just hone in the methods of using oil-based, water washable inks. By the end of this class, each participant will design, carve and print their own woodblock using a Charles Brand etching press. You also get 5 hours of free studio time at PCNJ! 

Communicating Through Relief

Saturday June 10, 17, 24, 2017, 11am to 4pm

This three-day woodcut class for entry-level printmakers will cover all the basics of relief; no prior knowledge is required! We will have a special focus on carving text as well as imagery. This class will demonstrate proper tool usage, carving on a matrix, inking a block, and printing small editions. Each participant will leave with the knowledge to print by hand or with a press, as well as create a one-color edition of at least five prints.

Summer Mix & Match Series: Linoleum Block Printing

Friday June 2nd, 2017, 6pm to 10pm

This class is a four hour crash on non-toxic linoleum cutting relief printing at a beginner level. It will cover the basics of transferring an image to the matrix, how to safely use carving tools, inking a block, and printing with a press or by hand. Every student will also learn about proper studio use and safety. By the end of this class, participants will leave with a basic understanding of how to create a simple linocut either at home or in a print shop.

Free Relief Printing Demo with Gumball Gallery

Saturday May 6, 2017, 10am to 4pm

Our free relief demo invites you to not only learn the basics of woodblock carving but to become be a participant in Mike Stark’s Life Is Like A Box of Chocolates pop-up show. Come and learn to carve a woodblock, which will be printed in front of your very eyes by our instructor and assistants. The final prints will be placed in Mike's

Gumball Gallery vending machine in our lobby with all proceeds donated to PCNJ. Come learn about relief printmaking and be a part of the show!

Screen By Hand: The Drawing Fluid Technique

Saturday March 4 and 11, 2017, 11am to 4pm

This two-day entry-level screen printing class will introduce the basics of creating an image directly on the screen with drawing fluid, allowing you to create prints with minimal equipment. Participants will also learn the proper tools and techniques to pull successful prints. At the end of this class, you will have a beautiful print of your drawing along with the basic knowledge to inexpensively screen print at home!
